Workshops, Seminars & Intensive Courses

Interested in hosting a seminar, or workshop? Michael Banaag is available for 1, 2, or 3-day events covering Natural Movement Fundamentals, Self-defense/Gung-Fu, or a mixture of both with the ability to travel to you.

1-day Natural Movement Fundamental Workshop
Teaching the fundamentals of movement competency skills of walking, running, climbing, jumping, crawling, lifting, throwing, catching, carrying, & balancing. Learn to do all these movements with more efficiency & skill resulting in practical fitness. These workshops are approximately 7-hours long with a 45min to 1-hour lunch break. 

Self-defense/Gung-Fu Workshops
Can be 1, 2, or 3-days in length. 

These workshops can either cover an Overview of the Entire DeMile Gung-Fu Lineage, or Specialized topics for each day; such as:
  • Powerline Striking (Including the 10 sources of Power)
  • Closing the Gap techniques 
    • Either as an Overview of all 10 techniques
    • Or most of the progression drills for a few of the Closes
  • Sticking/Sensitivity Drills (i.e. Slap Sparring, Wrist Slap Sparring, & Sticky Sparring)
  • Trapping - how to restrict the opponent's offensive/defensive potential
  • The Floating Punch aka 1"-3" Power Punch
Movement Gung-Fu workshop
This is basically a Combatives workshop consisting of DeMile Gung-Fu & Michael's experience in Special Forces Combatives mixed in with Natural Movement inspired training. The "Gung-Fu" aspect is in regards to the translation of Gung-Fu being "human achievement", or "a high level of skill developed through hard work & perseverance". 

In this unique workshop, Michael will get you working hard while learning effective self-defense skills simultaneously getting you sweating with natural movement interspersed between the self-defense skills. The inclusion of the natural movement training helps participants get in shape, have fun and enhance the self-defense movements you learn. For example, how aspects of jumping can specifically improve Closing the Gap techniques used against an attacker; or how crawling techniques specifically improves striking power. This gives you and fellow participants a unique experience of fitness, conditioning, fun & self-defense training all at once; helping everyone develop good Gung-Fu in Movement. Not all Natural Movement techniques are taught in this program; only the ones directly correlated to the DeMile Gung-Fu method. 

A single day is 7-hours long with a 1-hour lunch break

Hosting a Workshop/Seminar
To host any of these workshops, a minimum of 8 to 14 paying participants* must be enrolled before official  announcement of the workshop is made on iam-adaptive.com;  confirming it's existence.  As host, your participation fee will be waived, and will include extra time 1-on-1 interacting about the information taught. Request for a workshop/seminar will require a 1-month notice.

Minimum cost per participant for each type of workshop is as follows:

  • 1-day Natural Movement Fundamental Workshop (7hrs) - $150
  • Self-defense Workshop
    • Specialized (~4hrs to 6hrs) - $150 
    • Overview of DeMile Lineage (2 day minimum) - $200
  • Movement Gung-Fu (7hrs) - $230

Intensive 1-on-1 Training 

Currently offered as a 3-day course; as 2 different packages.

For Visitors (and Brand New Students)
This Intensive Training provides you the training experience to get you started on your development in the areas we believe are necessary for defending oneself against the "Average Joe". To us fighting against "the Average Joe" means defending against an opponent who has little training, or experience in fighting, and under the assumption that you are a nice person that rarely puts him or herself in a situation that would result in a fight. 

By the end of the Training, you will have been taught and received training in:
  • Powerline Punching
  • Striking with Structure
  • Footwork
  • Distance Awareness
  • Closing the Gap: especially the Lunge Close
  • Defending against the Ambush
  • Basic defense against Multiple Opponents
  • 10 sources of Power
  • 9 sources of Speed
  • Natural Movement Training to enhance conditioning for the techniques & provide Practical fitness
